All of us crave sweetness in our lives. And I mean to say sweet desserts. We just can’t help it. Once we see cakes, chocolates, and pastries on our table, our hands seem to automatically grab one…two… or maybe all of them. But this of course, is quite hard for diabetic people who need to control their sugar intake.
Good news! Not all desserts are diabetic. You can enjoy eating one and still maintain your sugar level with sugar-free desserts. For those who are on a low-carb diet and not counting fat, here’s a good choice for you.
Here’s a sugar-free version of chocolate fondue made for you to enjoy. This time, we will be using fruit slices as dippers for a healthful delight. You can also substitute skim milk for whole milk to cut down fat. Also, other flavoured extracts can be used like almond, cherry, and banana instead of vanilla.
You will need the following ingredients:
- 1 cup milk
- 2/3 cup dry unsweetened Dutch cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 cup Splenda sugar substitute
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
In a blender, put milk, cocoa powder, cinnamon, and salt. Wait until the whole mixture is combined. Pour the mixture in a saucepan and bring to boil. Simmer for 5 minutes with lower heat. Stir continuously until it is thickened. After, remove from heat and let it cool for another 5 minutes. This time, sprinkle the sugar substitute and vanilla and stir until dissolved.
Now, you’re ready to put the fondue mixture in a bow or pot and serve with fruit slices. See! In just about 15 minutes, you can satisfy your chocolate cravings.
